We were sad to leave the great camping spot we had here at Bingara but with only a few days left this trip we had to move on.
We were going to stop at Severn River, at the time the grass was long but it was being mowed, there was very little water in the river so with plenty of day left we decided to move onto Bonshaw Weir or Texas.
We heard Texas was packed so pulled into Bonshaw to find we were the only ones here. For good reason it has gone down hill since we were last here. No bins so people have just dumped their rubbish. Shame on the people who leave this mess.
Regardless it was still a nice spot and outlook, so we did a pickup of the rubbish and found a good spot overlooking the weir. Lots of bird life, suitable for all RV’s, free, dog friendly, table and chairs, no other facilities. There is a dump point, toilets and water at Texas.
The weir is very low, another camper pulled in and said they have never seen it so low, they didn’t stay. Down at the water it does have a smell that reminds of Rotorua in New Zealand, we can’t smell it from our camp spot luckily.
Apparently the lions club no longer look after the place. The council came and took away the bins and filled in the long drop toilet. The place will do for a one nighter though.
