What a little gem we stayed at last night. Joseph Wills Park, Elsmore, NSW Between Inverell and Glen Innes. Approx 2-3kms of gravel road to get to the place. Very quiet, large grassy area with lots of table and chairs. Long drop toilets right next to MacIntyre River. Run by the local Lions Club and really well maintained. We spoke to a member of the club and they have plans to improve it more and want people to come and stay. No time limit. He was clearing grass around a memorial to Joseph Wills. No Telstra reception
During the week would be lovely for a few days but we think on the weekend it would get very busy with locals doing day visits and a spot of fishing.
Water was warm enough to have a swim. We had the place to ourselves for the night.
But alas this trip was coming to an end so we had to keep moving.
We did stop in at Jam Works just near Stanthorpe and stocked up on some very tasty jams. Not cheap though but something special. There is a new large building with cafe and even a place to safely leave your fur baby.
We did a couple of one nighters until we got home. This was a week or so before the Qld 2022 floods.
